Wednesday 20 May will be this year’s International Behçet’s Awareness Day!

Wednesday 20 May 2026 is International Behçet's Awareness Day! Photos show an awareness display in a hospital, a Behçet's UK pin badge, and the Bake for Behçet's fundraiser promotional poster

#InternationalBehcetsAwarenessDay takes place on the 20th of May every year. It’s the perfect opportunity to raise more awareness of Behçet’s, either online and/or in-person.

Want to get involved this year? Here are a few suggestions of how you can help!

  • We will be sharing a couple of social media posts on our Facebook and Instagram on the day and would really appreciate it if you could them a like and/or share. If you share anything about Behçet’s on your social media pages on the day, remember to use the hashtag #InternationalBehcetsAwarenessDay and tag us @BehcetsUK

  • Sign up to take part in Bake for Behçet’s! Whether you’re an avid baker or not, there are lots of different ways you can join in and help us raise funds and awareness. We suggest hosting your event on or around the 20th, but it is not obligatory, and you are welcome to choose another date that works better for you. Everyone who fundraises for this event will receive a certificate of appreciation. Raise over £35, and we’ll send you a Bake for Behçet’s tea towel as an extra thank you!
  • If you work in a medical setting such as a hospital, doctors’ surgery, dental surgery or sexual health clinic, you can request some of our official awareness posters to display at your workplace. They can be laminated for long-term display. As a small charity with limited funds, we ask that you first seek permission to display the poster(s) from the setting owner/manager before you request them from us to limit the cost of unnecessary orders. See the designs available and email us to make your request at info@behcetsuk.org
  • If you’re planning any kind of fundraising event for the day, we have fundraising posters available, as well as t-shirts/sports tops, which are free for those aiming to raise at least £200. We always enjoy hearing about your fundraising plans so please drop us an email at info@behcetsuk.org to tell us about them and we’ll send you our fundraising guide, full of useful tips!

  • Order an official Behçet’s pin badge to wear on the day and start a conversation about Behçet’s with those around you. We have two designs available – a sparkly tulip and a round logo badge. If you’re doing Bake for Behçet’s, they are perfect for pinning on your apron!
  • We also have tote bags, t-shirts and other merchandise available. Please note that t-shirts are made to order from our supplier and can take up to three weeks for delivery, so we recommend ordering asap if you would like one in time for the day. All profits from merchandise sales go straight to Behçet’s UK to help us continue our work.

  • Every merch order now comes with a free sticker! Made of polypropylene, they are waterproof, weather-resistant and highly durable, making them ideal for sticking on a laptop, suitcase, wheelchair, or wherever else you can think of. They are a simple way to raise greater awareness of Behçet’s and show your support for the Behçet’s community.

Thank you everyone for your help in raising awareness and supporting Behçet’s UK.
