We’re looking for new trustees to join our expanding Board, including a Deputy Treasurer.
No previous trustee or Board experience required. We will provide training and ongoing support. We want a Board that reflects the diverse community we support, and we warmly welcome applications from anyone interested in helping us lead.
As a small charity with just two part-time staff, our trustees have an active role in shaping and supporting our work. Depending on their skills and interests, trustees may also get involved in projects, events, communications, fundraising and other areas of our work.
Who we are looking for
We want a team with a broad range of skills, experiences, and perspectives. We are particularly keen to hear from people who bring:
- Financial experience: To join us as our new Deputy Treasurer.
- Lived experience: Personal insight into Behçet’s or another rare disease (e.g. as a patient, family member, or carer).
- Transferable professional or everyday skills: Experience in communications, social media, project management, or community organising.
- Perspectives from underrepresented groups: People aged 18 to 40 and individuals from ethnically diverse backgrounds.Why we are focusing on diversity: These groups are currently underrepresented on our Board. We want to change this because we believe a great board needs a true mix of life experiences. Bringing in younger voices and broader cultural perspectives helps us better understand the needs of everyone living with Behçet’s, sparks new ideas, more creative discussions and better decisions.
