Donate to Behçet’s UK either through Payroll Giving or Match Funding

Payroll Giving

Payroll Giving is the most tax-efficient way to give. Donate to Behçet’s UK tax-free directly through your salary. Donations are taken from pay after National Insurance but before tax. A donation of £5 a month would actually cost an employee £4 from their take-home pay (if they pay 20% tax) or £3 (if they pay 40% tax).

Match Funding

What is match funding?
Match funding, or match giving, gives employees the chance to boost their fundraising as their employer matches the money they’ve raised so it is an easy way to maximise your fundraising! It is an informal, albeit corporate, arrangement between a company and an employee. Some companies offer this on a pound-for-pound basis, while others will specify the amount they’re prepared to give. Some companies will pledge time and resources instead of money, enabling their employees to support a cause during their working week.

Which companies will support Behçet’s UK?
Unfortunately we don’t know which companies offer match funding but usually, banks and building societies, insurance companies, supermarkets, utility providers, phone companies and car manufacturers are known to offer match-funding schemes. Barclays and HSBC, for example, offer their employees the opportunity to match funds they raise for their chosen charity up to £750 per year. Smaller companies also get involved.

Getting started
Ask your manager or HR department whether a scheme is already in place or if they would be willing to set one up. A match funding scheme can be adopted by any company no matter how big or small and there are organisations such as Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) which will run a matched giving service.

Once the company has agreed to match fund, they will probably ask you to complete a request form. If this is not the case, ask the company to put their pledge in writing to Behçet’s UK.

Raise awareness of match funding!
Spread the word about the benefits of match funding amongst your friends and colleagues as many don’t know this way to fundraise exists. Explain that it is not complicated and will cost the individual nothing other than some time to talk to their employer.
