Bake for Behçet’s

Behçet’s UK is calling on bakers and non-bakers alike to join “Bake for Behçet’s” this International Behçet’s Awareness Day on 20 May 2026.

Whether you love creating sweet or savoury treats – or simply want to support the cause in other ways – there’s a role for you. From cakes and cookies to sausage rolls and pasties, or even gathering donations from local shops, every contribution helps raise awareness and vital funds for people living with Behçet’s.

How can you get involved?

Hold your Bake for Behçet’s event on or near 20 May 2026. Here are some tasty ideas to get you started:

Birthday Bakes

Do your friends or work colleagues usually buy cakes for birthdays? This year, why not use International Behçet’s Awareness Day on 20 May as the start of a 12-month commitment to making homemade treats instead? Bake something special for each birthday – whether it’s a classic cake, cupcakes, or even a savoury quiche or pastry – and invite people to donate to Bake for Behçet’s in place of buying shop-bought cakes. It’s a meaningful way to celebrate while raising vital funds all year long.

Coffee Morning

Host a community coffee morning or a smaller gathering with friends and family. Serve a variety of sweet and savoury treats and suggest that attendees make a donation for every item they enjoy. Even a small get-together can have a big impact, and it’s a lovely way to connect with others while supporting Behçet’s UK.

Bake Sale

From a driveway table to school halls, a traditional bake sale is always a hit. Offer a mix of baked goods –  cupcakes, scones, tarts, sausage rolls, or pasties – and set a price or encourage donations. You can also reach out to local shops and supermarkets for baked goods to sell. A well-promoted sale can engage your community and raise important funds.

Honest Bakes

If you live in an area popular with tourists or walkers, set up a small bake stall with an honesty box outside your property. Passers-by can enjoy a treat while contributing a donation – a simple, creative way to fundraise and raise awareness without hosting a formal event.

Bake-off or Fake-off

Add a friendly, competitive twist to your fundraiser! Organise a baking contest for the tastiest cookie, the most intricate cake, or the best sausage roll. If baking isn’t your thing, try a Fake-off competition instead – decorate pre-bought cakes or cookies and enter them into the contest. After judging, sell all the entries so everyone can enjoy the delicious results.

Afternoon Tea

Host an elegant afternoon tea for colleagues, friends or family, offering cakes, scones, sandwiches, and savoury bites. Encourage guests to donate what they might have spent dining out – it’s a relaxed way to raise funds and enjoy quality time together.

Pet Treat Bakes

Don’t forget your furry friends! Include pet-safe dog biscuits or cat treats as part of your bake sale or event – a fun and tasty addition for a nation of animal lovers.

Many hands make light work

“Too many cooks spoil the broth” doesn’t apply here! Invite friends, family, colleagues, or community groups to get involved. Fundraising is easier – and more fun – when shared. Working together can turn your Bake for Behçet’s event into a memorable community experience.
